VIP seating now available for summer music season in Concord

Downtown Concord's free summer music program has gotten so popular that those who frequent the Tuesday and Thursday evening concerts can now reserve a VIP seat for the season for $100.

The price includes shaded seating in a special area on the left of the stage, a commemorative seat cushion and key chain. The names of those purchasing seats will go into a drawing at the end of the season for a gift basket from the Todos Santos Business Association. The concerts are still free; the reserved seats are optional. Unoccupied seats in the reserved area will always be opened up to the general public as soon as the music starts.

The program is sponsored by the City in association with the Todos Santos Business Association. The funds go to support the cost of the musicians that perform during the season.

“Our program is funded with Redevelopment dollars,” says Downtown Program Manager Florence Weiss. “When the State threatened to do away with redevelopment earlier this year, we received many calls from the public asking what they could do to show their support for this wonderful community event. We hope this will be a way to have the community participate and have some fun and recognition at the same time.”

The Thursday night Music and Market program runs from May 5 through Sept. 15. The Tuesday Night Blues series runs July 5 to July 26. In total, the series includes 24 concerts, bringing the cost for a reserved seat to a little over $4 per concert.

VIP seats may be purchased at Sonoma Bank, corner of Willow Pass Road and Grant Street, or at the City of Concord information booth in Todos Santos Plaza during the concerts. For more information, contact Weiss, (925) 671-3403 or email fweiss@ci.concord.ca.us.

Todos Santos Plaza is located in downtown Concord on Willow Pass Road between Mt. Diablo and Grant streets. Free parking is available in two municipal garages. For program information, call the downtown hotline at (925) 671-3464 or visit www.concordfirst.org.
