Hawaiian Fusion
Aloha! You and your family are invited to the eleventh annual Hawaiian Fusion event at the Centre Concord. This taste of Hawaii includes an authentic Hawaiian buffet dinner and concert with ukulele extraordinaire Bruce Shimabukuro and East Bay's own Hawaiian Reggae band Hanapa'a. The Hawaiian Boutique opens at 4:30 pm with no-host bar and dinner beginning at 6:30 pm. The show is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 pm. This enjoyable evening will raise funds for the senior center scholarship program at the Concord Senior Center.

Healthy Lifestyle Fair
This event features a plethora of information on health, education, recreation, and transportation. Topics include diabetes, heart disease, brain health, and hearing loss prevention. Various health screenings will be available on site. Don't miss one of the biggest events of the year. Free to attend but must register to reserve your lite lunch.

A Living Legacy - the National World War II Memorial
This informative presentation pays homage to veterans and others who gave service during World War II. Attendees will have opportunities to interact through trivia and discussion and will learn about submitting names to be permanently included in the WWII Registry of Remembrances. This class is brought to you by Ouimet Brothers.

Day Trips
Hiller Aviation Museum & S.F. Airport Tour via van
Looking back into aviation's history from the Wright Brothers our docent will help you transition from visitor to explorer through aircraft cockpits, flight simulators and replica exhibits. In keeping with this adventure we will have a tour of San Francisco Airport and learn about some of the airport's best kept secrets, such as the Art Museums, Murals and Meditation Room. Lunch will be enjoyed on our own at the International Food Court.

Rincon Center- Old S.F. Post Office & S.F. Railway Museum via van
Don’t miss a tour of Rincon Center: the original S.F. Post Office considered the gem of the Federal buildings west of the Mississippi. The docent will share fascinating stories of the murals inspired by Diego Rivera that tell the history of San Francisco to cold war politics. Then lunch on your own at the Center, perhaps at Yank Sing, famous for dim sum, or many other restaurants in the area. Next, onto the San Francisco Railway Museum to learn about the history of streetcars and the diverse trolleys now used from all over the US and Europe. Of special interest is the streetcar known as the ‘F Line’ seen down Market St. & the Wharf which you may remember from the movie ‘The Streetcar Named Desire’.

Moaning Caverns & Adventure Park via van
Come spend the day at Moaning Caverns in beautiful Calaveras County which contains an underground chamber large enough to hold the Statue of Liberty. An historic spiral staircase will take you 235 steps down into the cavern where we will begin a 45 minute walking tour of one of California's natural wonders. Or, if you are feeling adventurous, you can take the 165-foot rope rappel down the sheer cave walls and join the tour at the bottom. No previous rope experience is necessary. Above ground, as an optional purchase, you can zip line, traverse 32 foot climbing tower or try your hand at gemstone mining by purchasing a bag of 'rough dirt' and working it through the flumes to find real semi-precious gemstones. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds. A small gift shop will be open with snacks and soft drinks. We will stop in the town of Murphys for a brief shopping jaunt or snacks.

My Family Stories
How much do your children and grandchildren know of your family history? Family membership is a large part of our identity and our knowledge of our history is what gives us that membership. It has always been the job of the family elders to pass on the stories to the next generations. In this class we will learn how to write our stories in readable ways, ending with an individual book of written family snapshots. Handouts will be provided. Bring a notebook and pen or pencil to class.

Yoga for Seniors
This class will provide you with strength, flexibility, spinal alignment and relaxation which all contribute to a healthy back and whole body. Hatha yoga, which includes breathing exercises, physical postures, and relaxation techniques, is beneficial for people at any age and level of physical ability. However, yoga is especially good for us as we age. The Tuesday class is performed standing or seated. No mat work. Thursday class is for active seniors. No prior yoga experience necessary. Class will include floor exercises. Bring your own mat.
