The City of Concord communicates with residents through a variety of written documents (newsletters, activity guides, reports, etc.), through broadcasts on the City's government cable TV channels (28/Comcast, 29/Astound), and through the Web site.
Every household and business address receives a mailing from the City each quarter. Three times a year, residents receive the Concord City News. The fourth mailing is the Annual Report, a summary of major City projects and programs of the previous year.
The City of Concord operates a government cable TV channel, broadcast in Concord to Astound customers on channel 29 and to Comcast customers on channel 28. Broadcasts include City Council meetings, boards and commissions meetings, the "Street Smart" crime prevention program, City-sponsored music and events from Todos Santos Plaza , high school graduations from the Sleep Train Pavilion and community meetings from the Concord Senior Center . Rebroadcasts of live programs assist the community in keeping in touch with City government. Click here for TV listings.
Residents and visitors accessing the City's Web site will find the latest news about meeting dates and updates to project information maintained on the site. In addition, e-mails can be sent to elected officials and staff. The Web site at www.cityofconcord.org contains a wealth of information intended to assist the pubic in making the process of local government accessible and easily understood.
Participation by residents in public meetings is a basic principle of local government. Meetings of the City Council as well as the City's board and commissions are posted on the Web site, listed on the cable TV channel and are published in the local newspaper.
The City distributes news releases to local media on topics related to City events, projects and programs. Click here for a listing of news releases.
Four times a year, the Community and Recreation Services Department produces a comprehensive listing of activities, classes and programs offered by the City.
The City sponsors many events in Todos Santos Plaza, located on Willow Pass Road between Grant and Mt. Diablo streets, which attract over 100,000 people annually. Enjoy the Farmers' Market year round, or bring a picnic for the summertime Tuesday Music at Noon series or the Thursday night Market and Music series. Movies in August are a big hit with the kids. KidFest, MomDay, DadDay and July 4th are definite crowd pleasers.
