Community invited to Concord Earth Day/Arbor Day event

The City of Concord will celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day on Saturday, April 21 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at Hillcrest Community Park, Olivera Road at Grant Street.

"We invite the community to celebrate our planet, and bring the family out to improve one of Concord's most popular parks," says Concord Events Program Coordinator Shannon Griffin.
Families will assist with Arbor Day tree plantings, path restoration, creek clean-up, butterfly garden prep, fence repair and trash pick-up.

The Arbor Day Foundation has designated Concord as a Tree City USA for the 37th consecutive year, and presented Concord with the Growth Award for the 20th consecutive year.

The check-in tent will be located near the playground. Participants are advised to bring gloves and shovels if they have them, and to come in their favorite work clothes.
